Leanne was all googly-eyed this morning over the first pictures of Jeff & Ingrid Gordon’s new baby boy, Leo. She especially liked the one of older sister Ella with the new arrival, but Chuck thinks it looks like Ella’s got Leo in a choke hold. What do you think? Click here to see all the photos.

I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?

What if we gave it to kids as gifts?

What if we used it when we traveled?

What if we used it in case of emergency?

This is something to make you go, “Hmm…where is my Bible?”

Oh, and one more thing… Unlike our cell phone, we don’t have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill.

Makes you stop and think, “Where are my priorities?”

And no dropped calls!

I met this guy once while I was in Albuquerque and he has a motto he lives by every day. He says listen carefully and live by these 4 rules:   Drink, Steal, Swear, & Lie.

I was shaking my head ‘no’, but he then told me to listen while he explained his four rules.  So here they are:

1. “Drink” from the “everlasting cup” every day.

2. “Steal” a moment to help someone that is in worse shape than you are.

3. “Swear” that you will be a better person today than yesterday.

4. And last, but not least, when you “lie” down at night thank God you live in America.

I am not as good as I should be, I am not as good as I could be.  But THANK GOD I am better than I used to be!

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels.  I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.  I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn’t be afraid.

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage.  I didn’t want her to know that I hadn’t been walked today.  Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn’t want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn’t feel sad about my past.  I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone’s life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me.  I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship.

A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.  Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.  I would promise to keep her safe.  I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.  I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor.  So many more are out there who haven’t walked the corridors.  So many more to be saved.  At least I could save one.
I rescued a human today.

By David Cook

I have always seen life for what it really is.
Ever since I was a child growing up, hard times are all I know.

I had to sit back and watch my mother work from sunup to sundown.
I had to sit back and watch my mother work herself to her grave.

Nothing ever came easy for her.
But she always had a heart and kept a smile on her face.

Life is like a newborn baby struggling to come out of its mother’s womb,
life is a struggle true enough, but after all the struggling you have done,

and after all the hell you have been through, there is success.
Life is a big struggle, but just keep the faith and focus on your goals.

Don’t let life beat you or you will be walking around like zombies.
Keep on pushing, keep on trying; life can be whatever you make it to be.

But life can also be a bowl of cherries with whip cream and apple pie.
I say this again; life is what you make of it.

You can achieve or conquer anything it throws at you,
you can’t quit or give up; you have got to keep on working.

Look higher. Some way, somehow you are going to make it.

All right, everyone — I would really appreciate a quick vote from you. It’s one thing after another lately. I just have to get this off my chest…

First, it was my Velcro watch. Now, someone’s attacking my beloved CROCS (shoes). Receiving e-mails smashing and trashing my Crocs is COMPLETELY out of bounds!!!

I don’t recognize the e-mail address, so I don’t know if it’s coworker(s) or what. They included photos of “Men Wearing Crocs,” so I posted them for you…right underneath the poll. There’s also a picture of my own pair.

Here’s how I see it: Crocs are worn by a number of medical professionals, as well as many who are in the fashion “know.” If you’ve ever worn them, you know they’re INCREDIBLY comfortable.

Such hostility?! Does this one have any merit? I admit some of the guys below aren’t winning “Best-Dressed” anytime soon.

Thanks for listening. Please vote and leave me a comment if you want. And, if you know who’s sending these e-mails, please let me know.     —Gunner
